Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR)

Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR)

The Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) test provides critical insights into the functioning of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. While we can measure cortisol levels throughout the day, the CAR test specifically captures the dynamic fluctuations that occur during the first 30 minutes after waking, utilising three key measurements at 30-minute intervals.

This unique assessment enables us to evaluate the anticipatory stress experienced by the patient as they begin their day, offering valuable information about their overall stress load and resilience. Understanding the CAR is essential for identifying patterns in stress response and can inform targeted interventions to enhance well-being and adaptability in the face of daily challenges.

An optional insomnia measurement allows you to see cortisol reading in the night.

The CAR is included in the DUTCH Plus complete with the hormone metabolites
