Doctor’s Data, Inc. has served healthcare practitioners from its CLIA-licensed laboratory in St. Charles, Illinois, since 1972. HuMap is its comprehensive urinary steroid profile: parent hormones, their metabolites, and the enzyme activity between them. Four or five timed urine samples are collected over two days and analysed by LC-MS/MS.
Serum reflects what is circulating at a given moment. Urine metabolites show how hormones are made, used and cleared — including liver conjugation and phase I/phase II preference. Urinary results are an endpoint, not tissue-active levels, so read them with history and, when the case is complex, with serum.
The report is built as pathways. Estrogens are mapped through E1, E2, E3, and the 2-OH, 4-OH, and 16-OH routes, followed by the methoxy products reflecting COMT. Androgens follow DHEA through testosterone and 5α-DHT, with the androsterone/etiocholanolone split indicating 5α- versus 5β-reductase activity. Aromatase helps explain low testosterone or estrogen dominance.
HuMap also reports a fuller progesterone metabolite set than a parent-hormone-only test — 17-OH- and 21-OH-progesterone, 5α- and 5β-pregnanediol, allopregnanolone and pregnanetriol — so you can see production, 5α/5β preference and neurosteroid conversion, not just a single progesterone value.
Use HuMap for menopausal symptoms, PMS/PMDD, PCOS, endometriosis, HRT/BHRT monitoring, male androgen or prostate concerns, fatigue, insomnia, mood, weight change, and when hormone-clearance pathways matter.
Sample type: Urine — 4 timed collections over 2 days (dinner, bedtime, waking, waking +2 hours). Fifth sample only if the patient wakes to void. Premenopausal: mid-luteal (typically days 19–23). Men and postmenopausal women: any day.
Turnaround time: 2 Weeks
