SIBO Hydrogen and Methane Breath Test

It is now known that up to 80% of patients diagnosed with IBS have SIBO as either comorbidity or a route course of their GI symptoms.

We are proud to partner with Aerodiagnostics Laboratory, which uses state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to measure the Hydrogen (H2) and Methane (CH4) produced in the Small intestine by bacteria. The lab incorporates important carbon dioxide measurements to exclude false negative results, which can occur with other SIBO breath test lab providers.

We can provide both Lactulose and Glucose for breath testing and support test report interpretation with possible treatment protocols.

Combined with the GIMAP Stool, this test is powerful in seeing patients' inflammation, present infections, and digestion health markers.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when bacteria enter your normally sterile small intestine and begin to colonize it. This can occur for several reasons, such as stress, digestive enzyme or stomach acid insufficiency, or even a past or present infection.

This SIBO breath collection kit has either Glucose or Lactulose as a substrate. If you are requesting the test containing Lactulose, you must have your licensed clinician contact us directly to order. SIBO is a disorder of excessive bacterial growth in the small intestine, unlike the colon (or large bowel), which is rich in bacteria. Patients with bacterial overgrowth typically develop symptoms including nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhoea, malnutrition, weight loss, and malabsorption.
