Precision Point Diagnostics revolutionises oxidant stress testing with this innovative panel of biomarkers. The Advanced Oxidative Stress profile measures total glutathione, reduced glutathione, F2-isoprostane, and 8-OH-2deoxyguanosine from whole blood and urine specimens. Strong medical and scientific evidence points to oxidative stress as an underlying contributing factor to heart disease,1 neurodegenerative conditions, cancers, and toxicity.
The Advanced Oxidative Stress test measures the level of oxidative stress in the body and evaluates how well the body’s antioxidant enzymes are working to reduce this stress.
Oxidative stress arises from reactive oxygen species (ROS), known as free radicals. These ROS are produced during almost all metabolic processes in the body, meaning they are constantly generated as the body breaks down nutrients and performs various functions. The body has antioxidant mechanisms to neutralise these free radicals, helping to maintain balance.
Mitochondria, the energy-producing structures within cells, are the primary source of ROS but are also significantly affected by it. This creates a dual role where mitochondria produce ROS and are harmed by their presence.
Key Markers: Glutathione, reduced glutathione, F2-isoprostane, and 8-OH-2deoxyguanosine
Sample Type: Whole Blood
Turnaround Time: 3 weeks
