SIBO Hydrogen and Methane Breath Test

Up to 80% of individuals diagnosed with IBS also have Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), either as a comorbidity or the underlying cause of their gastrointestinal symptoms.
We collaborate with Aerodiagnostics Laboratory, which employs advanced diagnostic technology to measure hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4) gases produced by bacteria in the small intestine. Their testing includes carbon dioxide measurements to prevent false negatives, a limitation seen in other SIBO breath test providers. We offer breath tests using either Lactulose or Glucose substrates and provide support for interpreting results alongside potential treatment options.
SIBO arises when bacteria colonise the normally sterile small intestine, often triggered by stress, enzyme or acid deficiencies, or infections.

Symptoms of SIBO include nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhoea, malnutrition, weight loss, and malabsorption.

This breath test kit is available with either Glucose or Lactulose substrate.
